There's something about Natalie Portman that exudes old Hollywood charm. But she's got more than charm in her corner, she has solid resume of intriguing roles and a Harvard degree.
Some people have a hard time picking a favorite movie or favorite actress but for me it's simple: Where the Heart Is and Natalie Portman.

Karen,
I agree with your choice of Natalie, there's something about her that's fascinating. I want more challenging roles for her though.
Who tops my list ... well there's so many, it's hard to pick one.
I love Thandie Newton ... flirting is one of my all time favorite films. I wish she had more cutting edge material to work with, but I feel she has a lot of versatility, and Hollywood has yet to scratch the surface of her talent.
Wow, I didn't even recognize her in that picture. She is gorgeous in a very subtle way.
I would love to pick just one but I can't...sorry. My faves are Audrey Tatou and Juliette Binoche. It's all in the eyes, so much is coveyed there.
Wow, this is a great picture of her and you did a great job writing about it.

Noelani, I really need to see that Thandie Newton film. I've only heard good things about it. On another note, Thandie was just on the ER series finale. A pleasant surprise!
Yvonne, you're so right about Audrey Tatou and Juliette Binoche. I'd add Ziyi Zhang to the list. The emotion she conveys through her eyes is amazing. Watch her in The Road Home.
And thanks Reub!
So many to choose from...picking just one is a feat, but if I had to, I'd roll with Kate Winslet.
Grace, ability...there's not one role of hers which I've seen that I dislike. That's something.
She is so gorgeous and talented. I love her in Closer.
Good pick V-Knowledge, Kate Winslet is superb. Top-notch! My fav role of hers was Clementine in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Natalie Porman is definitely on my top ten list..
Another actress whose beauty and talent go in harmony, in my opinion, is Cate Blanchett.. there's just something graceful about her and yet so commanding and unique.
But since you mention Portman has Harvard..
my all time talented actress with brains has got to be Jodie Foster.

Here's another vote for Thandie Newton. "Flirting" is a great film to judge her on because it's a really raw performance (it's also, by the way, one of Nicole Kidman's best films) Thandie shows up for work every day, no matter what teh film. Most of us would have totally phoned in "Riddick", but she rocked it. Her worst film in my opinion has been Mission Impossible.
But I give Thandie the REAL credit for surviving her way through "Crash". I know I'm in the minority on this, but I think "Crash" was a collection of the best A/B-list actors giving the worst performances of their careers. Thandie gave her all, and the picture is better for it.
She is so gorgeous. Think i just found some inspiration!!!
xoxo
agreed, total babe :)

Rama, Cate Blanchett is another good pick. She gets quality roles on a steady basis.
BBO, it's official now. I have to watch Thandie in Flirting. I just have to!
Thanks for stopping by everyone. It's nice to see you appreciate Natalie Portman too. Next up she'll be in "Love & Other Impossible Pursuits" with Lisa Kudrow and "Brothers" with Jake Gyllenhaal. Can't wait!
