I saw it coming and I'm not the only one. Last month we chatted about why Tyler Perry's studio should pick up Push, and he actually did it according to IndieWire.
This is good news for the state of black cinema and minority cinema all around. We need more executives ready to bring award-winning indie films to the forefront.
Congrats to all those involved in making this deal a reality. And for all of us still eagerly awaiting to see this film...it's coming!

Still a little surprised this took so long to sell. Oprah and Tyler as marketing partners will help this tremendously. This is the type of alliance that we all keep talking/hearing about, but never happens. Until now!
This film is not only remarkable in its own right, it's the best thing Mariah Carey has ever done.
You're right, it's definitely a "dream alliance" for any filmmaker to have such high profile people willing to promote your film to their large audiences. This is one of those exciting moments in black cinema so I really hope Push wows the general audiences just like it did at Sundance. And who knows, maybe this time next year Push could be part of the Oscar race.
Yup - I was thrilled to read the news a couple of days ago.
Now, can someone tell Lee Daniels to get rolling on a trailer? A teaser? A poster? Something? Anything to get us even more excited :o)
No word on an exact release date to my knowledge. I'm guessing sooner rather than later, with Oprah and Tyler Perry attaching their names to it.
You definitely called it! Good call!
Obenson, you're so right about that trailer bit! I can't wait to actually, you know, see one.
